guys,
I am starting a thread for anyone who has stuff to give away. I think that if anyone has stuff lying around that they will probably not use, they should offer it up for other local trials guys to take. I'd like to keep it all in Canberra though, support the local guys.
So put something up, no matter how small, used, cheap useless, whatever - someone is sure to find a use for it !!
on the other side of the coin, don't accept things unless you have a genuine use for them. It will be obvious and unpopular
My item of the day is:
shimano deore 4-bolt chainring - 22t.
barely used, still useable with new chain
to suit shimano, truvativ, RF prodigy etc

hey i am a tight ass bugger but i'm still gonna give stuff away so everyone else do it too!
i have an old bashring from a rhino - its 5 bolt and black,
pretty worn on one side but you can rotate it, still has a year of use in it i'd say (well if i used it) but i have 4 bolt cranks with no money.
I broke my front brake lever on a rock so if someone wants to swap one for my bash or sell me it for cheap please do.
PS
i also have the bars that came on my giant - they are silver xc risers which are quite narrow. if anyone actually needs them i can sell them for 10 bucks, if not i'd like to keep them just in case the ones i have now break.

the intention was for this to actually be a poll for free stuff, otherwise alex will move it to the other forum. If you are going to sell something for as little as $10, you may as well propose a swap for a part or trade for a meal/lift etc (in which case it would still be valid for this post)
anyway my new additions are:
tranzX riser bar - silver 2" rise 25" wide used on a number of bikes, XC use pretty much
deore cranks - 170mm (square taper)
drive side crank is separating from the spider - this is why I retired them...if you can bodge a way of fixing that then they would be good again, or you can use just the non-drive crank if you need one (having mismatched cranks doesn't really matter if they're the same length) The drive side crank wouldn't be much of a problem on an XC/commute bike though
one drive side (175mm 5 bolt compact I think) 1996 Acera crank. i can't find the other crank but this one is in perfect shape, came stock on my mongoose and used for 1 year - light XC riding, never been trialsed
one tektro brake booster. Booster holes have been drilled out to slip over a cantilever mount (it can go UNDER a magura HS33 this way, that's what I used it for)
one right hand LX brake lever - well used. if you put a washer somewhere in the pivot mechanism you can take the slop out of it but it's tolerable nonetheless - otherwise fine
one left hand acera shifter...says 3.2.1 on the display, that means three gears for three chainrings, yay...works fine as I recall
that's it !!
everyone add stuff !!
no money but trade for other bits, favours (don't specify sexual favours on the public board, use PM for that one) etc would be fine

1 kenda kenetics 2.35" rear tyre - now available thanks to joel. Has a little bit of tread left.
I have some flash tac (the best tar)
i also almost every tool now, i bought a tool kit from phantom, so if you need to BORROW anything then let me know, i also have set up a bleed kit for maguras and acouple of disks that fit in a drill to grins your rims.
I have quite a few rear cogs and a few spacers left for those wanting to go single speed.
1 conti twister pro supersonic (sub 400 grams) tyre. Suitable for a weight weenies front tyre (or an absolute weight weenies rear tyre.
I have quite a few other bits and peices lying around aswell, jockey wheels, barrel adjusters, cables etc etc, if anyone wants small parts like this then post up on the board and we will see what people can dig up.
I think this is a realy good idea aslong as every one who is taking from it is also giving.

EDIT:
sorry joel. to make this freebie related i also have old ouries that have been cut up to make them not so fat (they came on my giant) they have a bit of a hole in them but they'll work for a while.

i have:
- a shimano deore lx front lever
-an 8 speed shimano alivio shifter-practically new-im a bit reluctant 2 not be selling this but shmmmmeh .
-some raceline rhino bars-bens old ones
-some REALLY sh*tty pimo 1 single cage pedals, heaps grippy though, they are just real small
-pair of oury grips-red-
-heaps long(110 i think?) kona 2 bolt stem perfect condition
-a raceline mini seat still perfect with seatpost still there
ummm, alex pv, it would be cool if i could see what that front tyre is like , and if i like it we could maybe work something out.

if anyone NEEDS a promaxx riser stem or some sketchy (yet brand new and unused) raceline riser bars then just post...
sorry, but i think this is all i have to give away at the moment (ill have a look around at the tons of broken parts i have lying around to see if anything might be of use)....

hmm... just thought of something actually...
if anyone needs (this is not just if u think u might want to have em or might need em in the future) some marzocchi bomber lowers or stanchions, or maybe even a steerer tube, then i'd be happy to arrange a swap...
they're from my bomber wedge's that i bent (but i think its just the crown that is bent).... and i thought someone might be needing them for parts? (u know how rowan built the frankenfork) ...

oh yeah, while im in the mood of generosity  i have some fox gloves (sidewinders i think) that are just a tad too small for me... i can fit them still, but only just, and i thought someone with smaller hands (i think mine are pretty big tho) might need em...? dont worry, they dont smell, infact i think i only wore em for about 10 rides (in my freeriding days) and they've been washed too... anyone want em? -charlie ps... al, can we get this thread moved to its own section (as in... shit... i just keep comming out with the goods today!  ok, ive got some dunlop volleys, size 9 (i think, might be 10) they havent been worne much, dont smell, and have been washed very recently.... i just cant fit em any more, + i think they're part of the reason my feet are so sore right now... charlie |
