I voted hot S for the best out of that list...
but wide tyres are starting to grow on me, cos I can then run low pressure front as well, the schwalbe big jim is popular, and not very heavy either, I'm running an el gato on the front at the moment (850g 2.35" rear trials tyre from IRC) and I like it a lot...weight doesn't make a lot of difference, it's only 200g on top of my old hot S (which died forever the other day, at about the same age as my PX frame)

well as far as light xc tyres go...
i used to have a conti that weighed about 350 which alex got for 30 dollars from online. now i have a tioga and i can't really feel the difference too much.

hot s's are $90, fuc|<ing rip off if you dont care get one, idd say they are the best, otherwise get a soft compound cheapy. Say the wtb veloci raptor, ash ran a rear one on the front and it worked pretty sweet. I have a tioga psycho, im not to sure if they make them anymore.

nick,
I don't think they make them anymore
seb,
I said earlier that my hot S died...are you deaf? (blind really)
anyway I changed the tyre in the last week, you wouldn't have ridden it yet...but it's still light
and I want to correct the width of the el gato - it's a 2.25 not a 2.35
