hey guys,
just thinking, whats the deal with ppl running front tyres on teh back? i remember ages ago when i actually rode my kona, pv said to me that he wanted to get a michelin comp 2.6 (the current front tyre on my kona) and use it on the rear of his rhino...
was this right pv?
if so, are there any benefits, and why not just run the standard REAR michelin?
cheers

charlie,
the differences between mtb tyres (front vs rear) has mostly to do with tread patterns the maximise steering control (front) and accelerating/braking traction (rear) as well as mud clearance, rolling resistance etc etc...the things you look for in a trials tyre are pretty much irrelevant to these things. The distinction between trials f/r tyres has mostly to do with weight (front) vs extreme grip on small stuff (rear, knobs and compound help with this) and pinch flat protection.
eg DHers (correct me if I'm wrong, dhers) would prefer to use a larger tyre on the front than the back due to increased steering abilities at high speed/low traction
