nice. very nice. I haven't used the brake on either fixie for about 2 weeks or 500km. Tried to draft behind a roadie down belconnen way towards the Macarthur av turnoff this morning. I counted about 140rpm - around 46km/h until I just couldn't spin that fast anymore and she got away. I just about caused a few crashes with drivers laughing hysterically at the spinning fool on the malvern star. I love the brakes for flakes article. Being a messenger in London would be fun in a scary kind of way. I never saw any messengers in Paris unfortunately - I think it's all done on motos or scooters there.
The trackstands those guys do are incredible. At the recent fixed-gear symposium in the US the trackstand comp was one long elimination - 5mins with both hands and both feet, then 5mins with one hand and both feet, then 5mins with no hands and both feet, then 5mins with no hands and one foot, then no hands, no feet. The winner got about 20secs into the last stage which is insane. Many of the competitors were smoking and drinking during the competition.
I've got the seated, one handed trackstand pretty right, the no hander is next.

I'm always thinkin I'll see you on my way home on my morning road ride. I love the ride down belc way up near your place you can sit on about 55 so the cars barely pass you. Thinking about it more I was at macarthur ave at about 7:15 so it wasnt me.

Actually I will comment. That was also a fear of mine but then when you start riding in a bunch you feel like a tosser wearing baggy shorts and t-shirt all flapping around making noise and shit. I dont really give a shit anymore and you can fee the differnce without the drag especially on long rides. But hey pvs tight black jeans and a bluey singlet will get you some good areodynamics aswell its no lycra but at least you'll be cutting it in style

Joel, I got my cluster taken off, didn't get a new chain, found out my axle is broken but meh and the dude said my tires need replacing because they may explode. I also got the spokes and shit. When is a good day for you to drink beer and play with bikes?

a good day is probably friday morning or afternoon. whenever really. I have heaps of 27" tyres which won't explode so don't give him any money. I may have an appropriate axle for that hub, we'll try it.
