yeah - DMR was the other one I was thinking of. I will be going to the shop this afternoon, I'll have a look at what's available and take some notes for you.

Ok, thank for that.
I talked to a guy from Mal's, he said he didnt know how much the DMR Revolver retails for, and it was to late to call anyone about it.

Yeah I've got the catalogue anyways ... But they don't state the DMR Revolver's price. And I wasn't too sure if the Surly hub on the catalogue was the one I was looking for. But yeah 209 does seem like a fair bit of money for a freewheel hub, with no freewheel. I think I'll stick to the DMR, hopefully the price tag a had mentioned before is correct ! Unless of course the Surly is very superior to the DMR. But it's hard to find anything "different" on such "simple" hubs. thanks again

you've got it exactly right. Look at the specs and if they seem similar, they probably are. Check out mtbr.com/reviews/ for reviews though, and google a bit. www.farkin.net has a bunch of dirt jump types who are likely to have some experience. Do your research, even if you only find anecdotal evidence. You'll know what to look out for. - Joel

I've been doing that lately, and nothing is making me want to buy the surly. For now - DMR Revolver it is.
Thanks for all the help.
I know this a TRIALS forum and you guys don't use 24" wheels. But oh well ! Any recommendations on a 24" rim, still for jump/street riding ?
cheers

A bit off topic ... but it wasn't worth strating a new thread.
Drilling rims
Is the rim's strength affected at all ? What's the approximate weight gain (loss) ?
Could this be done on a rim like the one's previously mentiones, for the type of riding previously mentioned ?

sun rhyno lite - 1/2" holes. Alex dx32 or other 38mm wide, box section rim, 3/4-7/8" holes.
Maximum sizes of course.

What are the 2 sizes available for freewheels (the big one on single sided hubs, and the small ones on flip-flop hubs) ?
Are there any freewheels smaller then 16t to fit the bigger size ?
cheers

there is one - the AC racing 888 freewheel is available in a 15t with normal threading. I wouldn't recommend it for trials though. The most basic freewheel suitable for trials is the ACS claws, and they don't last forever. They are available in 16t and up.

So the sizes are "normal" and "micro/small" ? And is "English threaded 1.37" x 24 tpi" the normal size ?

yes it is. I don't know the diameter of the micro one. Funnily enough the normal size is also the threading for english threaded bottom bracket shells, all because a little company called Birmingham Small Arms happened to have the tooling of that 1 3/8" size back before world war one when they started making bicycles.
That won't be on the test.
