I didn't notice that it had an external bottom bracket before - 10 points.
I think that mongoose has specced an excellent beginner bike - I don't know anything about that rear hub but I'm sure it's better than the shimanos which come on the raceline rhino.
If you can get a good price on that bike (not much over $1000) then I'd take it. It's a long way ahead of the raceline in terms of spec.

those are awsome DH hubs, they are sooooooo strong, my friend has been riding DH on them for ages, and there is nothing wrong with them.
