fork looks good dude, unfortunately it will still rust under a clearcoat probably. I also did some stuff today. Cooked off all the braze-ons on the frame (except for the pump peg because it reminds me of a nipple and we can all use a bit more of that) and took off the remaining paint that I can actually get to. Some pics? nipple: formerly the chainstay-mounted cable guide: after burning off the braze-on downtube shifter mount and filing off the excess: the bottom bracket-mounted cable guide is now a deformed piece of metal on my bench. Yes that is a dead rat in the background: and after sanding off the burn marks - you can still see the mark where the shifter cable carved a groove in the shell: frame as it is now: Working tomorrow, then doing the christmas thing but hopefully will be painting in the new year. Bought my tickets for pt Elliot today ! Bussing with the sydney crew hopefully. edit: the removal of the paint and the braze-ons took 50g off the frame ! It's now 1900g even. - Joel

because I'm an "intolerable post whore" I'm going to post some more pictures. This thread seems to have become a race to see who can restore their bits the quickest. I have a distinct romantic advantage over Alexx. the Italian fork which was included in the frame sale was in awful condition. I'm learning a little bit more about Italian bicycle conventions - I already knew that the bottom bracket threading is different but apparently the steerer tube on the fork is also slightly different. Interesting. The fork has been painted white, although originally I imagine it was chromed as is the convention: The rust will need to be filed off in many places, and then sanded back in others: Two hours later my flat file is full of crap, there is a bowl of rusty water on my verandah and I have a much nicer looking fork sitting here with the frame: The triangular cutouts in the fork crown lug are allegedly some sort of Italian convention - a way of identifying Italian forks. The whole fork (except steerer) will be painted ferrari red along with the frame, and the cutouts and the lugs accented with gloss white. - Joel
