I have a spare malvern star fix and there's the raleigh SS I gave my dad for Xmas. Happy to go for a lake/similar ride. I'll wear my spidey shirt. This afternoon?

Alex, you want a road bike which
(a) fits you. You're huge so nothing will fit you. Next best is a frame with a top tube of at least 57cm in length (ideal is probably 62cm) and a seat tube of at least the same.
(b) has semi-horizontal dropouts. They'll be front-loading dropouts which will allow you to adjust chain tension.
(c) has a cluster/freewheel rear hub, not a cassette hub. You can tell the difference.
(d) has a crankset which allows you to remove the big ring. It will probably have a 39-42t inner ring.
(e) has 165 or 170mm cranks. Although because you're tall, 175 is probably better.
optional stuff which is all the better but unlikely in the < $100 range:
lugged steel frame with butted columbus, tange or reynolds tubing (good luck), alloy rims, high flange hubs, tyres which don't need replacing, 700c, no dings, usable chain, pedals with clips and straps, anything italian.
Wheels will need straightening anyway and bearings repacking.
I bought the stuff for my chrome raleigh conversion from bike shed phillip. Happy with me?

nice - stick some corks in those bars in case you want to take a core sample of yourself. I can probably take that cluster off if you wanted to use a freewheel. Onya bike at belconnen has chrome dicta freewheels in 17 and 18t for $29ish
