i have a truvativ BB tool you can borrow, as much as it looks like they can be removed with a screwdriver and hammer, they can't, trust me.

okay, so basicly i need a B tool and a crnak remover, do you have a crank remover i could borrow ? Where abouts in Canberra do you live ? (if thats ok to ask)
otherwise ... i found some ISIS on ebay, but maybe getting the exact same ones is a bit stupid as i just broke a pair.

depends which model. the holzfeller cranks are great, come stock on a lot of top spec dh bikes.
the hussefelts (which i assume you are talking about) tend to be fairly average. you get the odd pair last well but generally they are not so great. they use a really soft alloy so they tend to bend, twist and have the pedal inserts strip out.

I brought my crank back to Super Store (where i bought my bike), so they could send them to truvativ. So I'm waiting for an answer. If i have no luck with them, i might just buy some new ones, I can get some aluminium Race Face 7000 series with no pedal inserts for 80 bucks, how does that sound ?

sounds fine. That's the ISIS evolve model? I have the turbine LP model (older, but the best, forged and machined) in 58/94 bolt pattern (the best bolt pattern) and square taper interface. Unlike the specialized cranks, racefaces don't come free - Joel

not sure bout the model ... Do you have inserts on yours ? Yeh, but I'd need to change BB to fit the specialized ones, and the one I've got on my treck is probly very "budget", so for a long term decision i think keeping my BB and putting on new cranks is better.
But nothing is sure yet, and hopefuly i can get my hussefelts under warranty.

no inserts on mine. Most cranks which are forged from 7000 series aluminium, then machined, then heat treated, they don't need inserts because they have correctly hardened threads. Truvativ seriously cheaped out on their production with the hussefelts, hence the steel inserts. Tensile, Middleburn, Shimano, Cook Bros, Raceface, Campagnolo etc have not used inserts or washers for over 30 years since good production techniques have developed.

no none of those brands use inserts. They are a sign of poor aluminium - which when treated properly can hold a pedal thread just fine.
