This is a thread posted on Farkin :
"ll our jumps in Canberra are getting knocked down (Fadden, Chisholm, Yarralumla, Collins). We're gonna get a group of people to go to parliament house this Sunday and try to get them to stop buldozing our jumps. if ur interested post back on this thread, or come to parliament house on 2 with ur bike and helmet and stuff. Come on guys we need lots of people to show up, we are sick of getting our bloody trails and jumps knocked down by the councils! Come and bring all your mates." (julien123)

uh huh.
Parliament house just happens to be here, it has nothing to do with local politics.
The ACT legislative assembly in civic would be a far more...useful place to protest.

it's in Civic near the Canberra theatre. Across London cct from the commonwealth bank/Montezuma's.
perhaps you should mention this in the farkin thread. I start spelling poorly and stop maintaining my bike when I visit that site.

they're on public land. Nobody cares for a while. People ride on them sometimes, they enjoy them and sometimes they fall off. Enter the child of rich parents (it's yarralumla, expect it), rides the jumps, falls off, scrapes knee. Child's parents call council, council fear litigation (many millions of dollars, potentially) and bulldozes jumps.
It's about liability, once the threat of litigation (suing) rears its head they're gone. Get rid of the liability and you keep the jumps. Private property, getting users (who are over 18) to sign a disclaimer before using the jumps (not really possible), or getting council to co-operate and pay for an insurance provider (what happens at races and events).

Ow ok. Well thanks for all that explaining !
I reckon the only and easiest solution left is to build secretly.
