I have seen "cage" (or even double caged !) pedals on almost every single trails bike. Why is that ? What are the advatanges over flats (bmx style) ?

they're lighter and cheaper. And when monty started using them years ago there were no decent platform pedals. So it's partly tradidion as well. The most common ones are made by VP, who stole the name unashamedly from Victor Pedals, who used to make quality quill pedals. - Joel

Where could I get my self a pair of these VP pedals you are talking about ? And for how much ?
How would they compair to today's platforms (DMR V8s/12s, Primos, Moshs, ...) ?

But you could get a pair from Jack, to try before you buy. And he might sell you his.

if you intend to do any BMXy style riding on these ie grinds etc you will destroy them in about a week. Just use dmr's or similar and my proprietry pin system when the pins fall out

My VPs have always lasted for years. Take with a grain of salt the "don't get VP's (sic), they suck" line.

okay, one of my cages ripped off just cus i messed up a sidehop and landed on the pedal... with my lat pair they snapped doing a drop gap, if your doing proper trials not just mincing about trying wheelies and you do come in contact with walls rocks etc they will die... its a fact.

I've still got the vp's Chris, and I don't need them, but I think cage has more grip. But I hardly think I'm a trials expert, as I'm still on my way to acquiring novice status.
