I tell you what Jack, you're lucky you left europe befroe the keyboard was invented because I say, european keyboards are super queer. and not in the fun, sequin-ey, drama teacher kind of way either...
anyway, I just registered (and paid! $180!) for the solo SS class at this year's scott 24 race. So if anyone wants to have fun with rabbit and food-related hallucinations in the middle of the night, join me in the solo class. Together we will rule the galaxy as father and son.
I'm going in the mont a couple of weeks later in a team of four as well, should be hilarity.
oh and I'll have pink streamers in my bars if anyone has trouble finding me on the course.

Sorry to hear about the race in France, but your'e right you will be in good nick for the 24. I, on the other hand am in awful condition having spent the last 8 weeks at rehearsals, for one of those sequiny things, and bfore that was injured. Since the Easter 24 I've sod all, but I'm entered also solo ss and in a team of 4 at the mont too. Mont team combined ages 220. Must dash cheers Jack

You will have a heap of competitors, I don't count myself as one. Sleep? Well I sometimes have a nap, because I'm too shagged to ride anyway, but otherwise I do take time out to rest. I can ussually get 16-18 hours in the saddle out of the 24, but right now I would be lucky to get half of that. The show ends tonight so I'll try and get some more ks in. My wife is off to Poland, so that will restrict the riding again, as I will have to look after J-B, oh well next year eh. We'll catch up soon cheers Jack

Nice Alex, sometimes I take some extra vitamins and stuff. Serious vitamins like Cytamen you have to have a few weeks before. So we will see you there? I hope so, the tracks are fine, the only new tracks seem to have been carved out to make the course flow better. It won't make the climb to the top any easier, I went out yesterday and you won't need No-Doz the techie downhill switchbacks, at night, will have you buzzing into the week after. This will be tougher than at Kowen, not better, but quite different. I wish I was fitter. Then again I always wish that.

Hey guys,
Talking about the course, how do you guys think its going to hold up? am i going to have a seriously sore arse due to huge amounts of braking ruts and bumps? makes the downhills so much less relaxing. I need to get into some more training, been sick and injured over the past 8 weeks and just got back on the bike. For the first time after competeing in 4 (i think) 24s ill finally be 1. racing on my own bike and 2. be racing the whole time under my own name! which also means ill have a shirt that fits me too. very exciting

I sure do, lovely bike too however, i still dont enjoy brake ruts and courses torn to shreds. means too much standing or just taking in the seated position. There is no denying that i should be more comfortable on the course than you, but that doesnt mean i'll be comfortable! Seriously tho, i anticipate a fair bit of dust but is the course going to hold up to the pressures of a 24?

The XC course held up pretty well after the Nationals/Brindabella challenge, but it will probably get very dusty. I wouldn't like to be there if it rains hard though!

So Stromlo held up well, did a quick circuit about 11:30, then went off to Dairy Farmers Hill, came back and went up the top again after it had done some raining. Seemed well drained, but a huge downpour and a big field of racers might just cause some more problems. There's some new track that was very boggy, but not bedded in yet. Mind you it was just lovely, came out at the new bridge. I was optomistic about some trees being planted, seems that that idea has been shelved for the windswept desert look. Some trees have been planted, some of them on the track itself. I wonder what it will be like in October, this is the first time for years that the race has not sold out. cheers Jack

yeah I guess having the mont as a separate event is taking some of the load off, which is good. I'm doing that one too yay! Night laps! Having a good light makes such a difference...had a collection of shitty ones last year...

Howd it go boys? my team went great! 32 laps, came 3rd in 4 man teams we had second for ages but during the night mike got 2 flats in one lap and had to run the rest of the course and lost about 30minutes. we ended up 14minutes behind. how was single speed hell?
