single speed was the only way to go. the course was obviously designed for it, the winner of ss did 1 or 2 laps less than Bell. Joel got unlucky and would have run a place if his frame had not snapped. I got 4th, 2 laps behind 3rd and 3 in front of 5th, my last laps were spent pushing the bike especially on the blue lap which I did last. Well done Shaun top effort. cheers Jack

mont I'm on for. I check this forum once a day, waiting for someone to say something! Same as all else, it seems.
XC series? Sounds fun. I don't work weekends anymore so ...yeah.

Hope you have a bit better luck this time round joel! wish i was competeing too... think i have the 24 bug. getting a colnago road bike today before you get too excited it's from before i was born and dont think its in the greatest condition but colnago! how awesome is that?! only problem being its got a 26mm seatube size and the only seatpost i could find near that is a tiny bit smaller (it looks like if you tightened the crap out of it it might just hold). So im considering a shim rather than a new post, would i be misguided in using aluminium foil to get that bit extra? i do realise that sounds dodgy but if its going to save me some $$ it's worth it! right enough procrastinating and back to work!

don't use anything other than the right post size! Those old steel frames don't take well to being bodged. a 26mm post means that it's most likely not a colnago...
