I don't know about anything for the BC, in my opinion Stromlo is a bit of a dud venue for trials, as good as it is for other disciplines, as it's really dusty, open, hot and one has to bring all obstacles in. I'd be interested in trying the twilight series again, with a focus on novice riders. I don't have a trials bike at the moment but would be more than happy to administer/assist with anything.
(for those without the memory, the twilight series ran through daylight savings time, had no entry fee and no prizes, and was conducted at natural trials locations within Canberra on evening per week. Sections were marked out in chalk and we'd have 3-5 sections all up. Locations included John Knight Park, Commonwealth Park, the ANU, Hawker rocks etc)
Anyone interested in trying a twilight comp?

Hey Joel, I'd be interested in the twilight series, sounds like a great idea. If you feel like getting a little retro you can borrow my Giant Trials Team bike.
Agreed that Stromlo isn't much of a venue for trials

Yeah i agree that Stromlo wasn't the best venue but i was just curious as to wheather or not the event was going to be held again. but this Twilight event sounds like a good idea, do u just keep the scores on a piece of paper and at the end determine the winner? and they get a pat on the back or something if it is being held when do u norm start? and do u have to turn upto every event? otherwise im more than happy to help i may be able to get some 'tape' of the yellow colour to use instead of chalk. from my motocycle trials. Cheers Andrew

There's a trials bit set up as you know, at Stromlo. I guess the best way to get it improved stuff would be to liase with CORC. Talk to Anthony Burton. I don't mind doing that but Pearcy normally does. I think. Someone who knows what they are talking about, so the precludes me. Anyway one BC event I know of is the xc on Dec 1st, as I'm setting the course, maybe get something on that day, something of a demo, and maybe a course anyone could have a go at, might get some interest off the racers. Just an idea Cheers Jack

I'd be happy to help with any set up for the proposed twilight series, anything that gives me an excuse to leave work early is a good thing.
I agree with you Jack, that Stromlo could be good with the right set up but I'm in the same boat as you and wouldn't call myself a trials expert. Possibly we need to get some experts involved and maybe look at how trials parks overseas are set up. I don't know that stromlo will ever be a great 'natural' trials area but it could still be cool. Initially I think CORC had plans to create a skills area so maybe trials could be part of it? Again, I'm happy to provide any help etc with this.
Cheers James

James, I have been in touch with CORC and they have e-mailed Craig and me to say that they would like to get something better set up by Nationals next year. I don't know who is replying on observed trials and farkin on our behalf, about comps here. So when Pearcey lets us know, what's going on, we can go from there, they sounded positive though.

Hey Jack, That all sounds good. As I live very close to Stromlo, and have alot of leave that I have to take I can put in a pretty big effort with this. Once we hear from Craig we should meet and plan out what we are going to do and divide up some tasks and get things moving.
Cheers
