yo charlie
its an 02 model... has USA passed standards... which im pretty sure are higher than australian one! Also the only thing is it costs alot (i used to know how much) to get the standards test. so i guess once passin the USA ones they figured y do aussie one.
If you have seen my face pic (47stitches!!) i was wearin the same model e2 then!! The docs at sydney hospital told me that without a helmet it would have been my last day!!
so yes... tell ya mum they are good!
hope that helps bud. dan.

yeah,
thx...
im not doubting that theyre a kick arse helmet, its just i think i have to use an australian standards one cause of private health cover (or something like that) or else im not covered....
i have NFI, but its something along those lines...
so unfortunately, i think ill have to wait till the 03 models
-thx anyway

Hey Charlie, I got one, the red and white Giro E2, highly recommend them and they are used by DHers for riding in a non race situation so they are really reliable. So if you want to check it our more have a look at mine on the night ride.

ben i doubt that the insurance company will care that DHers use it, all they look at is standards and stuff, so if he has the safest helmet in the world on, that hasnt been standards checked, and he falls off his bike and breaks his arm, insurance will say its his fault for not wearing a standards helmet.

Simon Whats breaking an arm got to do with a helmet? I thought every helmet made had to have some form of standards.

nothing, but the insurance company has rules that if u ride a bike ur not covered unless you have a helmet. yeah its gone through the american ones but giro hasn't put it through the aussie ones, prolly because they dont sell that many in australia anyway.

unless you are riding on pivate property you have to where an austalian safty standards helmet by law. Its like not wearing a seatbelt.
