you can get vees pretty cheap. You could bring your bike to school with some triflow and an 5mm allen key and get that penony vran kid to make your brake work like magic.

I second mr hydroboy - v-brakes on the front are far superior to maguras. I'm not sure of the physics behind it but yes - maggies work awesome on pace forks - almost a self-powering design...
anyway v-brakes on the front - lube your cable up so it feels like butter - spending $10 on new cable inner and outer will help with this - and make sure that your pads hit the rim dead flush on, or with a little bit of toe-out. $25 for kool-stop pads (salmon compound IS different to the other compounds, and is much better for trials) will also give you goodness
listen to Alex, don't waste your money on a front magura (or a rear one, if you have the choice)

how long have you had your 26" maxlite fork Seb? did you buy it brand new, unused?
anyway the 20" (yes, mod only) fork at mal's is the same kinesis maxlite that monty rebadges (without modification) and puts on their x-lite mods and stocks. for 20" I'd say that fork would be a good choice for a smooth or experienced rider, rough beginners will be wasting their money.
but it IS a 4-bolt one and maggies on the front are crap and a waste of lots of money and they're fairly heavy compared to a superior v-brake.
you can get that kinesis fork (same one, with disc mounts as well) with v-brake bosses. I plan on trying one for my 26". Assume $200 or so for the fork, perhaps less for the 20" one. I know Mal has $150 marked on the one in the shop (4-bolt). And before you ask (you tightarse) no you CAN'T get 4-bolt to v-brake adapters unless you get them made, in which case get me some made.
thanks for your patients, they were yummy

and you know the worst thing? I'm being impartial. maggies on the front really are crap. That's impartial too. Just wait till you see me being biased TOWARDS v-brakes. yowee.

VP pedal cages work. Bolt cage to two bolts, drill another hole, put ve brake on and voila. there are pics of it every where.
