i'm not the one who's harsh on them, its the concrete. oh, and you forgot to mention that it happened to be a mavic rim. (221 not 521) and i was running a 1mm thin tyre which was worn down even more from my brakes rubbing on it. but yeah i'm pretty shit these days.

my vote to rhino lite !
the older rhyno lites (like 2 years ago - silver ones) were made in the USA but newer ones (black with silver braketrack) are "designed in USA" but made in taiwan as someone pointed out. I used a silver one on the rear for a long long time, so long the brake track wore out to the point of unusability ! so I got a new black one, built it to my king hub nice and tight and it stays true as hell...high quality seam on the thing...works good...so yeah get some simon...and lace it to your RB hub before you buy a freaking 100 dollar tire !!

velocity psycho is next best...wouldn't go mavic they aren't great value although very strong - need a bit of width for trials especially when beginning

rim=7-10 days spokes=before this friday hub=now
so soon i will have everything, and it will be the stiffest wheel in the history of trials. and ive decided to get a mich DH22 or what the fuck it is called because i am sick of pinch flats and also sick of being a weight weenie. i am also jealous of ppl who can run 1psi and never flat, when i always do with 50. so im not getting a 100 dollar tyre any more

Good to see simon. Stiffest wheel in history, we will see, are you going to build it still? And also i think the Comp 24 (if that is what you are talking about) is pretty expencive aswell. Id go a tioga. Should have got it from the trialsinshop $25 or somthing crazy.

are u serious, u r building a wheel yoself!?¿...that is crazy-like, coz i tried on my old rim that i bent 2 the crap(absolutely warped like to a point of non-unbendability) and it was damned impossible, and took heaps long . in case anyone was wondering i was building a fucked rim coz i had about 3 hours 2 kill on a sunday so i watched tv and did the rim thing .

yeah i've had a similar experience to you - my bike got run over by a car and my front wheel was heaps screwed, so i took it apart and built it, and it was almost true. then i was bored again and took it apart again and relaced it in some crazy pattern that i found off the internet and it looked heaps mad. i stilll have it. but anyway because the rb hub is straight pull the holes already go in the right direction for the spokes, and cause its new everything i just have to make sure i screw all the spokes in the same amount and then just put the wheel in my bike and dish it to be centered in the stays. and also i figured if i really fuck it up i can just take it to mals and either get them to fix it or borrow their 3 million dollar park truing stand and use that. hopefully it wont end up being one of those things i put off for like 5 months.

simon don't build it yourself unless you've built at least 10 other wheels before...
you need a lot of wheel building experience to make a strong trials wheel, not just to get it straight and true but to know how to prep the spokes, the best ways of lacing etc etc...stress relieving during the build (also known as 'pinging') and how to make sure the spokes aren't twisted...and having seen your current wheel I imagine you don't care a lot for maintenance of a good build either...just get mal's to do it for 50 bucks...he'll give you a free wheel true with that as well
