i definately wouldnt get a Mavic 221, i voted for the mavic 521, it is skinny but its light and strong, i think its your best bet, i have the velocity on the back of my norco, and many other people use that rim aswell, its bombproof but heavy, hard decision i know, i also like the rhino lite, but def. not the 221

i would say that the mavic is the strongest rim for its weight there, it is thin so if you run real low pressures the tyre rolls more and it is easyer to pinch, i think im going to get a rhinolite xl for my next rim, unfortunatly you cant get them into australia though so ill have to get it off the net. The other option is alex dx 32 heavy but ultra wide and strong, and when you start getting smother and worry more about weight then you can drill it out (like the koxx / megamo rims).

Hey Charlie, I'm getting a rhino lite from the trialsin shop because they are 28 dollars canadian (i dunno about 35 AU or less) and here (at mals) they are about 80-100, but cause theyre pretty big shipping is about 35, but if a few people get them it will be cheaper. If you're interested email me, and if you know anyone else who might want one tell them, so then we could get some and all save a bit of money. Oh and everyone else check out www.thetrialsinshop.com as well so if you want something we can get everything at once so we'll save on shipping.

Hey the rhyno would be best out of those but forget about them and get a alex dx32!! they are baout the same price and if you drill it out then it will be about the same weight and still a heck of a lot stronger than all those rims!!! Im getting them prolly one on the front too if a cant get a tioga dh rim and drill it. The wideness of a rim is the most important i have found, it means you can run lower pressure without the tire folding on you and still have good pinch resistance because the profile of the tire becomes squarer instead of bulging outwards! Im gonna be runnin wide rims and no less than a 2.35 on the front and rear its gonna be great! Peace

thx fellas, but ive decided to go with the mavic 521 -its actually only 1 or 2 mm thinner than the rhinolite and supposedly stronger too also, rowan was telling me that there are two types or rhinolite rims out there, one says 'made in USA' on it, and the other says 'designed in USA'. apparently the one with 'designed in USA' is actually 'made' in tiawan, and rowan reckons theyre not tough enough for trials riding... u might want to check out the ones from thetrialsinshop to find out which one they are. -might be the reason they're so cheap? this is what rowan said, ...so u have been warned.... if u get a rhino lite, make sure it is MADE IN THE USA!! keep chillin charlie

I doubt its the one made in usa, thats probably the Rhino Lite XL which is wider and stronger too, but you can't get it in australia. I'm sure mavic is stronger, but it doesn't worry me because I dont weigh a million kilos, and i dont run low pressure, so i wont be very hard on the rim, and I dont care because this rim is very cheap. Also, a few millimeters could make quite a difference, cause they are only a few mills wide anyway. (ok maybe not)

i got me new bike 2day! ;D and i found that the mavic 521 was a hell of a lot heavier than my rhyno lite, or maybe it was just the hub or something or rather....i would still get rhyno lite....goddamn, i cant ride my bike till thursday coz mals is slow....it is heaps sick!(a bit off the subject but neway)
