I've got a Redline monocog 32/16, I use it on xc races, but for enduro I would find that too tough. I'm old and heavy, so I will go lower than 32/17, trouble is you just spin on the flat. This year I did it on a Trance 1, an armchair ride. Maybe we should get together for a ride sometime. Cheers Jack

absolutely Jack. I would love to do an all-dayer some cloudy day during the holidays. I just have to get my bike into the shop and get a new fork and front brake. I'll also look at a carbon seatpost for comfort and a bit of a weight saving.

trouble is you just spin on the flat. sounds like a perfect justification for just rolling all the hills and flats and taking a break...

or to start riding a high-geared SS/fixed wheel road bike for commuting/training to improve your uphill strength, and spinning speed. I'm sure it doesn't hurt my off-roading, riding 100-200 road km a week on a 82" fixed wheel.

And have you seen any sign of the stuff? word on the street (or reply to my message) is that the frame is packed, ready to go and will hopefully be sent this week. i think some sort of discount may be in order for the incredibly long wait.

Absolutely right, but I didn't want to sound too whimpy. I'm stuck for riding to work or the idea of a huge gear would be good. I will go after leg strength and power with power cleans and front squats. Of course Tuesdays you guys will be coming over to Telopea, to do some trials. A long ride is good and we will be starting next month. I'll contact you, cheers, just remember how slow I am, Dave McGregor, my partner in solo races and riding (12 laps @ Scott), is much quicker.

The first day would be week 2 on a Tuesday at 11. Week 1 being from next Monday. I'll get the exact date and time. You are talking about Trials at Telopea, this may have been the longest thread about just about everything else. I'll put up a notice soon, thanks Jack, by the way I could lend you a bike if your steed done a fetlock.

fetlock? I have a trials steed which sees little enough use to be in mechanical danger - Joel

Fantastic Joel, and Alex, we have 18 starters, on an assortment of bikes, I'll meet you at the front of the school, next week, anything you want me to organise, like benches or whatnot. Alex, Ray and me were at uni together. Small universe eh.
